While it may have been the title drawing me to this book, it was after reading the first chapter that I was hooked. With every word I was drawn into a deeper understanding of God’s heart for his children and his impeccably perfect timing. The pages of this book are filled with the story of two seemingly very different men, who form a bond that nothing can shake. Denver asks Mr. Ron for something he has never had before, a real never ending friendship, a simple question that forever alters the lives of these men. Within the pages of this book there is healing for anyone as you follow the journey of Denver and Ron. Theirs is a journey of trails, prejudice, hope, faith, loss, being an over comer, freedom, and friendship that will take you back to times when you have experienced the same emotions, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Lying deep in the pages of there lives; you will find a new hope. Hope in something bigger then your circumstances, diagnosis, up bringing, or status in the world. Same kind of different as me shows us how God takes us places we least expect and changes our hearts far beyond our wildest dreams.

rex

I did not know what to expect when I opened Rex, but I was meet with a story of grace and provision unlike any other. We all face trials of varying degrees, and Rex faced huge mountains that most people will never have to deal with. Cathleen Lewis takes the struggle of life and makes it real. No one is perfect, but we can learn from Cathleen as she faced every new challenge with Grace and the determination of a mother. Even if you are not facing the journey of a child with disabilities, there are huge lessons to be learned from her. Early in the book Cathleen talks about her journey toward God and finding peace. She describes it as her…”stomach…unwind{ing}, releasing the constant pressure. I looked at Rex…there was an expression of peace…a clam…..Suddenly the tears…began falling.” (pg 38-39) We have all been there. Whatever the circumstance, everyone has had a moment where we meet with the peace of God. It is undeniable how God moved in the lives of Rex and Cathleen and brought them to a dependence on Him. A dependence that carried them through the trials that still lay ahead of them.
