it is not the first time he has tried to tell me that….
it is not the first time i have asked and nor will it be the last…
but it was a simple beautiful moment that i will remember forever….
there best way for me to explain it is to give you a picture from a movie….
for any romantic girl in the room….this should be pretty easy to understand…if you are a guy..then take a second and let this sink in…….
one of my favorite movies (of all time) is Pride and Prejudice.
(there are many reasons this movie is good…..none of the least of which is i feel like i was born in the wrong century and in he wrong country with the wrong accent)
ok….here we go….
in P & P, we are introduced to Elizabeth Bennet, and gentile lady from a rather “ridiculous” family. She is in a world were everyone is different from here…both in personality and station. She is at the mercy of others. She is also high opininated and misunderstood in so many ways. (i find that i am incresaingly like her).
During the movie are get a glimpse of life in England in the 18th centuary…..while simplistic and steeped in tradition, it was not an easy time to be with out money or means to earn a living. As a woman you find yourself very dependent on a man. He was your livelihood. Your life depended in so many ways on who he was and the postion he help. (again….i am much like her at this point in my life….the things that God has called me to, depend on a man and his calling…..and at this point there is no such man).
Ok…enough back history and personal interjections for now…..back to my point…..
During the movie we follow the life and courtship as you might call it of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy (does anyone know his real name?). There are many ups and downs….many presumptions made….many humble moments….and moments wher Darcy’s love is proclaimed much to the diamay of Elizebeth. Hard hearted to something she overheard, she is closed off to anything having to do with Darcy. There are times when both Darcy & Elizabeth are PRIDEFUL….I am sure that we can all identify…..
By the end of the movie, Darcy and Elizabeth have worked through all the drama……Darcy has gone above and beyond for Elizabeth and her family. He has steadily broken through the walls of Elizabeth’s heart. After proclaiming love for Elizabeth for the second time and in a much more romantic way then the first one….they are married.
(stay with me…almost there…i promise)
finally…the last scene of the movie…..
Darcy and Elizabeth are at home…hanging out and having some hubby and wifie time….they start talking about what to call each other……after going through a list of somewhat silly names….Darcy looks at Elizabeth and asks her when he can call her Mrs. Darcy
to which she replies…..”only when you are incandescently” in love……
at that…Darcy learns over her….says “Mrs. Darcy” over and over as he proceeds to kiss her, taking his time to “sing” his love over his new bride.
ok..deep breath…grab a tissue if you need one….ready to go on….
this past weekend i was at an amazing retreat…..i went into the weekend with a few things on my heart that God had been dealing with me on….but knew that this retreat was abaout the jhigh & srhigh girls that God had placed before me….
but i could not escape a few moments with my King. on friday night God began to sing his love over me…but i was still not ready to hear it….there were things that were keeping me from fully understanding and embracing it….
but Saturday morning EVERYTHING changed….i was able to seperate from what was going on and get on my knees before my King…..and slowly..every so gently….he began to sing his love over me…..gentle kisses of the sun….and the simple words…I love you…oh how i love you….oh i love you…i love you……..
for the first time i felt it…..i got it!! it meant so much to me!!! EVERYTHING made sense….
where he was taking me….what his plans were for me….
all of it!!!
